     Thailand

Koh Lipe was not on the program, but what a nice surprise! If I tell you, no cars, small enough to go around on foot, turquoise water, sublime sunsets. When are you going?

What to do in Koh Lipe?

  • Explore the different beaches of the island.

Sunset Beach is perfect for watching the sunsets, sipping a coconut or a small cocktail. If you go a little further behind the rocks, you will have a small quiet beach called Suta Beach.

Sunrise beach is perfect for sunrise. And yes, you will have to motivate yourself to get up ! You will cross non-tourist villages and reach the beach where all the boats are moored. An incredible sight.

And so many others ...

  • Shopping in the main street

There are lots of nice little shops, where I met a French woman who lives near my place in France, who makes her own jewelry. A must see on Koh Lipe.

  • Eat !

Koh Lipe is not very big but is full of small places that are so nice. Local Thai cuisine, fresh fish just caught, a little more elaborate cuisine ... By the beach or in the main street, let yourself be guided by your desires!

How to get to Koh Lipe?

Koh Lipe being in the southwest of Thailand it is quite difficult to get there. This is why it remains touristy but much quieter than all the other places.

Depending on where you come from, there are several ferry routes.

Note that Koh Lipe is part of Tarutao National Park , the entrance is 200 baths and you must keep this ticket with you throughout.

From Krabi : Take a minivan (5h) to Pak Bara Pier then a ferry (2h) to Koh Lipe.

or

Take the ferry directly from Krabi to Klong Jilad Pier (7h). But I recommend the first option knowing that the waters can be rough and that you will be well shaken.

Where to stay?

There are hotels all over Koh Lipe for all budgets. Prices may change depending on the season.

We were next to Sunset Beach, away from the main street and therefore quiet.

The Baanpeangpor Hotel was way too cute and nice for a small price. You have a small room with just enough space to sleep, the toilets and showers are in common. As well as a relaxation area with big pillows and tables.

When to visit Koh Lipe?

The best period is from November to April. Temperatures are 25-30 degrees.

The low season runs from May to October. The hotels will surely be cheaper, but some shops may be closed, some rain and less sunshine will also be expected.
