Indonesia - Java

The island of Java, located between Sumatra and Bali is the most populated island in Indonesia. Volcanic, it shelters many spectacular sites as well as temples more original than the others. Here is an itinerary of ten days to see the highlights of Java island:

Day 1 - 2 - 3 Yogyakarta

Yogyakarta is home to temples and palaces but also markets and street art. A must in visiting the island of Java.

Day 4 - train to Malang

It takes 8 hours to reach Malang from Yogyakarta by train. Get there early at Tugu Station and take the 7:45 am train. The Malioboro Express route is very comfortable, and you can have great conversations with locals.

Day 5 - 6 Malang

Visit the most colorful villages in Indonesia and - perhaps - in the world, as well as impressive waterfalls. Malang must be on your list of places to discover in Java !

Day 7 -8 Bromo

Mount Bromo, or Bromo volcano is a must in Java. Still active, you can see the smoke coming out of the crater. The place itself is incredible, a must do !

Day 9 - 10 Ijen

To take a slap this is the place ! Descending into a volcano crater in the midst of miners is a rewarding experience that will open your eyes to your condition. Prepare to see blue fire for the first time in your life, and a sunrise over an acid lake.
