   Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka is a beautiful country with good vibes where you will go from beaches to mountains very easily. Small in size but rich in beauty, it is easy to get around by bus, tuk tuk, train, Uber ...

3 weeks are enough to discover the whole island and I have created this itinerary so that you can make the most of it!

Day 1-2 : Arrival in Colombo, relax in Mount Lavinia

You will surely arrive at Colombo airport. From there, take a tuk tuk and go directly to Mount Lavinia. Colombo is a big city which doesn’t have interest in spending time there.

I recommend you to stay at Island Hostel in Mount Lavinia. It is a super cool hostel (even for those who are not too much hostel) There is a rooftop with a swimming pool and it is literally located 5 min walk from the beach.

Enjoy a wonderful sunset before starting your 3 weeks road trip !

Day 3-4-5: Hikkaduwa

Right next to the Island Hostel is the train station. Ask the ticket office for Hikkaduwa. There are 3 train classes in Sri Lanka. Honestly, the trains are often crowded, you will probably be traveling upright, so take the cheapest or the middle class.

Given the small size of the island the journeys are quite fast.

Unawatuna is one of my favorites. It is the location of the most famous beaches in Sri Lanka. Cool guesthouses, cool little bars and restaurants, you will love the atmosphere.

Day 12-13: Udawalawe for a safari

For an ethical safari I highly recommend Udawalawe. Between elephants, buffaloes, birds, crocodiles etc ... you will live an exceptional day.

I advise you 2 days, to rest because you will get up early and because the guesthouse that I recommend is the perfect place to rest.

Day 14-15: Ella

In the heart of the mountains, Ella is a cute little village that almost reminds us of our ski resorts, with the snow less. Hikes and tea plantations are waiting for you, without forgetting the famous nine arch bridge
